Grants and support for your roof

Support for roof renovation changed profoundly in 2026. Here, region by region, is what still exists to insulate or renovate your roof, and how we help you put your application together.

Roof grants are not what they used to be. In 2026, Belgium’s three regions overhauled their renovation support: the end of Habitation grants in Wallonia, Renolution grants suspended in Brussels, and support in Flanders refocused on lower incomes. Solutions still exist, however, and reduced VAT at 6% remains the main way to save everywhere. Choose your region for the detailed situation.

Wallonia

Habitation grants ended on 30/09/2026. Since 1 October: Rénopack and Rénoprêt, subsidised loans linked to an audit.

Brussels

Renolution grants not awarded for 2025-2026. The Ecoreno loan, some municipal grants and 6% VAT remain.

Flanders

Mijn VerbouwPremie for insulated roofs, reserved since 1 March 2026 for income categories 3 and 4.

Everywhere in Belgium: reduced VAT at 6%

For a private home more than ten years old, roofing work invoiced directly by a registered contractor in principle qualifies for 6% VAT instead of 21%. On a renovation costing €25,000 excluding VAT, the saving reaches €3,750. It is currently the most stable and significant form of support. Our article on reduced VAT for roofing work sets out the conditions.

What we do for your application

  • We check with you, from the first visit, which support you may be entitled to.
  • Our quotes specify the insulated area, the insulation material, its thickness and its thermal resistance.
  • Our invoices include all the necessary statements, including those required for reduced VAT.
  • We give you the technical data sheets for the materials and photos of every stage of installation.

Information as of 5 October 2026

Regional support changes often. These pages summarise the situation known at that date and do not replace official information: always check the conditions with your region before signing a quote.

Frequently asked questions about roof grants

Is a simple re-covering, without insulation, eligible for support?

In most schemes, no. Support is aimed at energy performance: the covering is generally only supported if the roof is insulated at the same time.

Do municipal grants still exist?

Some municipalities offer their own support, particularly for insulation or green roofs. Check with the planning or environment department of your municipality.

Do you handle the application for me?

The application remains in your name, but we provide all the technical documents you need and answer the authorities’ questions about our work.
