Roof grants Flanders go through a single scheme: Mijn VerbouwPremie, managed by the Flemish Energy and Climate Agency. It covers insulation of the roof or loft floor, as well as renovation of the covering when combined with insulation. In 2026, the scheme was refocused: since 1 March 2026, owner-occupiers in income categories 1 and 2 no longer have access to it for roofing work. Categories 3 and 4, with the lowest incomes, keep the grant.
Who can receive the grant?
- Owner-occupiers in income categories 3 and 4.
- Depending on the case, some landlords and tenants, under the conditions set by the regulations.
- For a home in the Flemish Region, with work carried out by a contractor.
The income category depends on household composition and taxable income. The official simulator lets you determine it.
The amounts
According to the information available in October 2026, the roof grant is a percentage of the invoice excluding VAT:
| Income category | Grant | Indicative cap |
|---|---|---|
| Category 4 | 50% of the invoice excluding VAT | €5,750 |
| Category 3 | 35% of the invoice excluding VAT | €4,025 |
| Categories 1 and 2 | No longer eligible for roofs since 1 March 2026 | |
A minimum invoice amount is required, and the eligible part of the invoice is capped. Check the exact amounts on the official website before signing.
The technical conditions
- Insulation is compulsory: renovating the roof timbers, covering or gutters is only taken into account if the roof is insulated at the same time.
- Minimum performance: the new roof or loft floor insulation must achieve a thermal resistance Rd of at least 4.5 m²K/W.
- Contractor: the work must be carried out and invoiced by a contractor.
- Deadline: the application is submitted after the final invoice, within the deadline set by the regulations.
The asbestos supplement
A supplement per square metre is available for removing a covering or underlay containing asbestos, provided the removal is combined with sufficient new insulation carried out by a contractor. It is valuable support in Flanders, where asbestos removal policy is particularly advanced. See our article on the asbestos roof.
For other incomes: Mijn VerbouwLening
Households no longer eligible for the grant can turn to Mijn VerbouwLening, a renovation loan on favourable terms, to finance roof insulation among other things. Check with your municipality or your local energy advice office.
